Thank you to all the teachers who participated in the library collaboration survey 1st Semester. The teachers surveyed all requested new ideas for library/classroom collaboration. This begins a series of entries to give you what you asked for . . . ideas.
#13 - Create a research pathfinder for a curriculum unit.
What is a pathfinder? A pathfinder is a tool that focuses your students on the resources that will give them the most bang for their buck. I know that as a classroom teacher I compiled internet resource pathfinders for my students every quarter. This was a time consuming process and the list usually evolved over a couple of years time. With the help of the library, your list can include relevant print resources and online subscription databases as well as the best web sites the two of you can find. And yes, if your project brings you to the library or computer lab, your pathfinder can be posted in the online resources section of the library website for easy student and teacher access.
** The ideas in this series are based on the document "100 Ways Your Librarian can Help You" published by the Beaverton School District. Read them one-at-a-time here, or check out the whole list online.
