Accelerated Reader |
La Mesa has Accelerated Reader (often called "AR") tests for approximately 3,900 books. Students select books from the list, and take computerized multiple-choice tests on the books. Tests are administered by appointment with the student's English teacher. Points are earned according to the difficulty of the book.
Neither reading level nor point value rate books based on subject matter, however often higher values are associated with more mature content level.
Most English teachers require students to earn a minimum of 10 AR points per quarter. It is suggested that students read two books of 100 pages or more over the summer as well. |
